A Glimpse Behind the Scenes: What Keeps Us Busy?

This place is incredible! The people are the kindest I've ever met. Everyone seems genuinely happy and has such an open spirit, they're willing to share everything, even though they don't have much. I'll tell you more about that in a later post.

But let me tell you, nature is wild here! We have huge bats flying overhead and eagles soaring above them. And on the ground? Watch out for the termites! They're everywhere.

Here's a picture of a termite mound. It's medium-sized and right by the side of the road. Because of these termites, most homes are built with concrete floors and either concrete or cinder block walls for the first floor. 

The only exception is the huts of the very poor which have dirt floors and not much for walls. Anything else built with wood just won't last long in this environment.
