The Gathering Place

"The Gathering Place",  a literal place and program for YSA (Young Singe Adults 18-35 of any religion) created by The Church of Jesus Chrsit of Latter-day Saints in West Africa in 2021.  So many here of that age have no earning power, even with a  university degree.  So  "The Gathering  Place" offers classes  on cooking bread or meat filled pastries, sewing clothes, screen printing T-shirts, website design, graphic design, pedicure/manicure, and phone repair.  The focus is on creating a marketable skill to foster self-reliance.  They also teach the skills for creating a business and in some instances provide loans to do so. In addition,  they have the option to enroll in  BYU Idaho's online university classes to obtain a degree through a special program called Pathway. They also provide social, family history, coummunity outreach, and support programs for the you.  The Gathering Place is a pretty impressive program that provides direction and guidance for so many entering adulthood.   Below are photos of YSA's learning differennt trade skills to be self supporting in this largely micro-economy country.
