Today we went to the Art Market--I promise it is not what you think. Imagine a maze with two foot wide dark paths flanked by a wall of tall three sided cubicles made of tin or discarded wood walls with the opening facing the path. They are all in an endless row smashed next to each other until you turn the corner and its another endless row with more twists and turns until you are quickly lost and can't find your way out. Each three-side cubicle is stuffed full of African clothes, carvings, fabrics, paintings, purses, masks, jewelry, baskets ...etc that are made by an African and are for sale.
-The only thing that is missing in the photos are the people in each store "cubicle" stuffed and overflowing with wares calling and reaching for you,"Small price" "Beautiful fabrics. Come, Come I show you" "Carved nativities" "You need this".
The Accra Art Market is it's own world--everyone should visit.
Wonderful pictures. What an adventure! Best wishes from Mongolia! Elder and Sister Rose
